FICO (NYSE: FICO) is a leading global analytics software company, helping businesses in 100+ countries make better decisions. Join our world-class team today and fulfill your career potential!

The Opportunity

This Software Engineering Manager role leads a team building and operating FICO Platform, a mission critical, heavily regulated applied intelligence platform delivering real-time decisions across fraud detection, credit risk, regulatory compliance, and customer engagement in an agentic first way. The manager is accountable for the quality, correctness, and production readiness of everything the team ships, leading engineers who direct, specify, and verify the output of AI coding agents rather than authoring code directly. Success in this role requires the engineering judgement to establish and encode clear standards for agent output, develop and scale that judgement across the team, and ensure effective operation within the structured agentic harness that transforms model capability into production grade engineering. Senior technical decisions, spanning architecture, risk, trade-off analysis, and anything outside the appropriate scope of agent autonomy remain the direct responsibility of the manager.

What You’ll Contribute

  • Own delivery and quality for your team, accountable for what merges and deploys in a regulated decisioning context, holding the bar under delivery pressure.
  • Build engineers who exercise judgement, coaching your team to write clear specifications, read agent output critically, and know when to intervene versus let agents run.
  • Set and hold ‘what good looks like’, translating product requirements and architectural intent into enforceable, testable definitions of done that your team and its agents can act on.
  • Evolve the agentic harness, partnering with the harness team to turn recurring agent failures into controls (guides, linters, fitness tests, verification loops) so the same class of problem cannot recur.
  • Keep repository knowledge legible, making documentation, specs, and context accurate and up to date as a normal part of team operations, not an afterthought.
  • Steer architecture and risk, spending your attention on architecture, edge cases, latency, integration risk, auditability, and decisions that agents and junior engineers should not make alone.
  • Run the team, hiring and growing agentic-first engineers, running planning and delivery within Agile and spec-driven ways of working, and representing your team’s work, constraints, and risks to product, architecture, and leadership.

What We’re Seeking

  • Strong engineering leadership with a proven track record of delivering in large codebases: you care deeply about architecture, testing, and maintainability, and you grow that standard in others.
  • A credible technical bar: you can read agent and engineer output critically, spot the subtly wrong thing, and decide when to intervene; your team trusts your judgement because it is earned.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, or Cursor.
  • Clear, precise communication: you translate between product intent, architecture, and delivery, and you can articulate what good looks like precisely enough that an engineer or an agent can act on it.
  • A verification mindset and strong outcome ownership.
  • A track record of growing people: you can take engineers through the shift from writing code to directing agents, develop early-career talent, and stretch strong performers.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology areas including Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, ML model deployment, or real-time decisioning systems.
  • Experience in decisioning, credit risk, fraud, analytics, optimisation, or data engineering is a strong advantage.
  • Prior experience leading spec-driven development, context engineering, or agent orchestration and an articulated philosophy of working with AI, including how you delegate, keep humans in the loop, and help a team earn autonomy through demonstrated quality is a strong advantage

Our Offer to You

  • An inclusive culture strongly reflecting our core values: Act Like an Owner, Delight Our Customers and Earn the Respect of Others.
  • The opportunity to make an impact and develop professionally by leveraging your unique strengths and participating in valuable learning experiences.
  • Highly competitive compensation, benefits and rewards programs that encourage you to bring your best every day and be recognized for doing so.
  • An engaging, people-first work environment offering work/life balance, employee resource groups, and social events to promote interaction and camaraderie.
